Brief History:

Winner of the 1979 24 Hours of Daytona Interscope team car Driven by Ted Field, Danny Ongais, Hurley Haywood, Milt Minter Sold new to Ted Field's Interscope team, chassis 930 990 0029 made its competition debut at the 1979 24 Hours of Daytona a mere two weeks after taking delivery of the car. For the occasion, Field was joined by Danny Ongais and Hurley Haywood. Starting from 8th, the #0 car took a legendary debut victory. In a nail-biting finish, Ongais had to nurse the car for the final stint with a failing turbocharger, but had built up enough of a lead that he was able to take the checkered flag at a modest 20 miles per hour. For the remainder of the 1979 IMSA GT season, 0029 would end up on the podium an additional 4 times. The car was retired at the end of the 1979 season. In 1980, after the car was replaced with latest version of the 935, the 935/79 was sold to Vasek Polak. It remained in storage for the next 17 years, and then in 1997 it was sold to Jim Torres of Burbank Coach Works. He would go on to have the car completely restored for historic racing. It was then sold to Frenchman Jean Guittard, and was regularly raced in historic events in Europe such as the Le Mans Classic. The vehicle later joined John Stafford’s collection for several years before finding its current home with LA based collector, Phillip Sarofim. Canepa completed a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration in 2016, and continues to maintain the vehicle.
